I have a dog ,

old and gray,

I cherish the time God give him

From day to day.

 

I thank God

For this old bag of bones,

That keeps me company

When I’m alone.

 

He is so gentle

and so very sweet.

When I have my shoes off

he licks my feet.

 

I know that from God

he is on loan.

And there will be a day

God will grab him up

and take him to his

canine home.

 

So I’ll enjoy him now,

Every minute of every hour.

Then I’ll have beautiful memories

that will never fade or never sour.
